Job Descriptions

JOB PROFILE:Complete knowledge of
All liquor brands, beers and non-alcoholic selections available in Room Service
The particular characteristics and description of every wine/champagne by the glass and major wines on the wine list.
Designated glassware and garnishes for drinks
All teas and coffees products : Service procedures
All food and beverage products served in Room Service
All menu items, preparation method/time, ingredients, sauces, portion sizes, garnishes, presentation and prices.
Daily menu specials
Guest room layout, locations and room numbers/names
POS, Micros and manual systems procedures
Daily house count, arrivals / departure, VIPs
Scheduled in-house group activities, locations and times
Maintain complete knowledge and strictly abide to local liquor laws, particular those prohibiting service to minor, intoxicated persons and drunk driving
Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use if equipment only as intended
Maintain complete knowledge and comply with all department policies/service procedures
Obtain assigned bank and ensure accuracy of contracted monies. Obtain change required for expected business level. Keep bank secure at all times
Set-up and organize work stations with designated supplies, forms and resource materials; maintain cleanliness at all times. Report shortages to supervisor
Inspect, plan and ensure that all materials and equipment are in complete readiness for service; rectify deficiencies with respective personnel
Answer Room Service phone within 3 rings, using correct salutation and telephone etiquette
Take guests’ food and beverage orders, utilizing suggestive selling techniques and following all departmental standards
Ensure accuracy of guest name and room number of each order for delivery
Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, however busy
Maintain positive guest relations
Be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond accurately to any guest inquiry
Handle guest complaints by following the instant pacification procedures and ensuring guest satisfaction
Access all functions of micros system in accordance to specifications.
Ensure timely set up and delivery of orders
Legibly document orders when system is down and distribute orders to servers; ensure authorization for room charge. Obtain manual checks and follow all Accounting procedures.
Contact guests10 minutes after order is delivered to ensure guest satisfaction and to suggest additional orders; resolve any problem promptly
Organize, document and track pick-up of dirty trays/tables; direct staff as required to retrieve dirty trays/tables
Process all payment methods in accordance with Accounting procedures and policies
Accommodate guest requests for change courteously
Input charges for amenity orders and coordinate delivery of such with servers; following departmental policies
Organize, input and distribute advance orders and door knob menu orders according to departmental procedures
Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of all service areas, following procedures laid down in departmental standards
Assist and oversee Room Service staff in their job functions as specified in departmental standards
Settle all checks opened under own ID. Settle all servers checks before leaving; report open checks to Room Service Manager
Complete designated closing reports in the Micros system
Count bank at end of shift and secure bank
Legibly complete designated cashier reports and distribute in accordance with Accounting procedures
Balance and drop receipts according to Accounting specifications
Review business status and follow up actions with on-coming Order Taker/Manager
Periodically check with the Front Office to review updates on house count and arrivals
Anticipate heavy business times and organize procedures to handle extended waiting lines
Foster and promote a cooperative working climate, maximizing productivity and employee morale
Check the status of all orders and ensure that they are prepared and delivered within designated timelines in accordance with departmental standards
Assist servers with expediting problem payments. Ensure all cashiering procedures are processed in compliance with Accounting standards
Run system closing reports and ensure that all servers’ check are closed before they sign out
Complete all paperwork and closing duties in accordance with departmental standards
QUALIFICATIONS:Minimum 1-2 years of experience in In Room Dining or specialty restaurant.
Pleasing and out-going personality.
Positive attitude and smile.
Able to work under pressure and manage stress.
Foreign language.
Knowledge in food & beverage.
EXPERIENCE:A total of 4-5 years Food and Beverage experience.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar position, preferable in luxury hotel/restaurant environment
Experience working in a multi-cultural environment.
Organized and well planned.
Able to work with speed and efficiency throughout maintaining positive attitude.
